The opportunity to photograph a Red-necked Phalarope was too tempting to resist. This little gem of a bird frequented Leece Pond on the outskirts of Barrow-in Furness, Cumbria, and treated us to a fantastic display of 'spinning' as it constantly fed on surface insects. Afterwards, a walk around Walney Bird Observatory produced 2 drake Scaup, 15+ Greenshank, 2 Wheatear, 1 Merlin and a superb Barn Owl hunting at 18.00hrs.
