Broad-billed Sandpiper, Watergrove Reservoir, Gtr. Manchester - 21st May 2005.
Surely one of the best waders one could hope to find on an inland local patch, never mind an upland reservoir nr Rochdale! This little gem showed well this evening in the company of a few Dunlin, Ringed and Little Ringed Plovers. I managed a few videograbs in the available light at c20.00-20.30hrs.
Black Kite - Moore Nature Reserve, Cheshire - 20th May 2005.
Although a few individuals of this species have been twitchable in southern England in recent years, a twitchable bird in NW England is indeed a mythical event. The bird showed very well over the reserve, but against the mid evening sky only silouette photos could be obtained.
