Bitterns, Leighton Moss RSPB, Lancs - 27th Dec 2005.

These two Bitterns gave prolonged views from the Lower Hide during the last hour of light. The bird in the lower videograb is ringed on the right leg.

Greater Scaup, Marshside, M/Side - 18th Dec.

This 1stw drake Greater Scaup on the Sandgrounders pool was the most notable sighting in a couple of hours during the afternoon.

Red-necked Grebe, Elton Res, Bury, Gtr. Man - 12th Dec 2005.

This superb 1stw bird showed well along the dam-side of the reservoir in very bright, sunny conditions, but frequently moved out towards the centre of the reservoir when spooked by the numerous dog-walkers at this site.
